It’s been fun to enter this contest. The first time I tried, my entry Studio View didn’t get anywhere, but it came in handy as the header for my blog. I can see now why it probably didn’t get in. It had some nice parts, such as the cat or this squirrel:
But overall, it‘s a little murky, not enough contrast. For example, the red cardinal disappears into the rust-colored “pine needles.”
And what is that green blob between the squirrel and the birdhouse feeder?

CONGRATULATIONS!!! this little sneak peek is very intriguing.....looks like another completely fun and fabulous piece from you.
Congratulations to you Loreen! I can't wait to see the full picture of your month. From here it looks great.
Congratulations Loreen...
Looks good here, looking forward to the whole calendar.
Congrats Loreen and well done!
woo-hoo! Congrats, Loreen. It is great! Is the green blob moss?
Kudos!
Isn't it amusing to look at work that you've gained some time and distance from? It's that old "can't see the forest for the trees" syndrome.
Thanks for coming by, all! The green blob was some generic "plant" intended to fill a space that seemed too empty. Would've been better to leave it empty, I think now.
Ah, how we grow as artists! You're probably much more critical of your first piece than anyone else would be. And look where you're at now!! Congratulations! And well-deserved, Loreen!

wow, loreen--i am so impressed by your mixed media quilted pieces, --even down to the crocheted stem on the tomato! i can't wait to see the full piece! have you illustrated a book this way, or does it seem like way too much work?
